Art and Nature in Harmony at One Plus 6
Curated by Suthep Art Stay, this 35-square-meter two-room apartment is located right next to the Star Dome Golf Club. Its unique location offers a perfect blend of urban living and refreshing greenery. The space features artworks by renowned local artist Ploy Kasom, adding an artistic touch to the environment.
First Impressions and Arrival
Upon arrival, I was surprised by the heavy traffic in the narrow alley. One Plus 6 turned out to be a large residential complex with six buildings, and I stayed in Building 6, the last one. While security was well-maintained with an on-site manager, my first day had its small adventures. The host's password looked more like a credit card number, and communication with the non-English-speaking manager presented its own challenges.
Facilities for Digital Nomads
The space, consisting of a bedroom and a living room with a sofa bed, excelled in its work environment. Equipped with a monitor and work chair, plus two 500Mbps fiber optic Wi-Fi connections, it provided a stable setup for remote work.
Golf Course View, A Sanctuary for the Mind
The moment I opened the door, the lush green golf course view washed away all my fatigue. The space was more spacious than my previous accommodations, and I loved the overall clean interior. Opening the curtains each morning to the golf course view became a delightful way to start the day. Spending 20 minutes doing stretches while enjoying this scenery became my daily routine.
Convenient Location and Surroundings
The location offered great accessibility - an 8-minute walk to the Old City (East Gate), and an 8-minute drive to Nimman Road. Convenience stores like 7-11, grocery shops, and street food vendors were just a 3-minute walk away. The airport was also easily accessible, just a 15-minute drive.
Living Experience: Pros and Cons Analysis
Advantages
- Healing golf course view
- Stable internet connection
- Convenient location
- The elderly host was fluent in English, incredibly attentive, and provided personal management with regular visits
Disadvantages
- Poor soundproofing (neighbors' sounds easily heard)
- If you use shower filters, bring plenty as they need frequent replacement
Tips for Digital Nomads
Here are some insights from my experience:
- Earplugs are essential. The poor soundproofing made it difficult to get deep sleep in Chiang Mai.
- Double-check check-in information in advance, especially passwords and location details.
- For long-term stays (15+ days), electricity and water bills are charged separately.
Closing Thoughts
One Plus 6 successfully blended artistic sensibility, nature-friendly environment, and facilities for digital nomads. Despite the soundproofing issues, it would make an excellent long-term stay option. It felt like staying at a neat grandmother's house. The morning stretching sessions with the golf course view will remain an unforgettable memory.
